Best Answer: If you are using Nullsoft's MIDI player (and assuming version 5 WinAmp, since that's what I have), the answer is simple—once you know it, that is. While WinAmp is up on the screen: 1. Go to Preferences (Cntrl+P) or select Preferences from the Options menu. Go to Plugins - Input 3. Highlight Nullsoft MIDI Player 4. Click Configure button 5. Click on Display tab 6.
Click the CheckBox for 'Show lyrics window while playing' so that you have a check mark there. Click the OK button on that window.
Close the Preferences window. Works for me, anyway. The procedure should be essentially the same for older/newer versions of WinAmp and the included MIDI player. One other thing.
I found out that if you close the lyrics window (using the X button), you have to re-enable the lyrics display again, which is a pain in the neck. So I suggest that you simply just hit the WinAmp stop button when done, which closes the lyrics windows without changing it's display option. If you have a third party MIDI or KAR player plugin, the options may be different, but somewhere in the configure menu there should be a similar option, at least it makes sense that there should be. Karaoke (.kar) files are essentially MIDI (.mid) files with the lyrics embedded. In fact, one of my MIDI files was a karaoke file with the.mid extension, and it worked as well as a.kar file and displayed the lyrics.
