Allister Door Control System Type Iia Manual
Garage door opener Allister Type IIA Model ARD won't work consistently. When I push the button, the light comes on and I can hear a little hum, but the chain does not move. However, sometimes it works! Sometimes it will not work until about 20 seconds after I push the button, and then the chain moves. One time I hit the door and it started working. I've check as many connections as I can in terms of just cleaning them and making they are secure.but I'm still having problems.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
The Allister Type IIA opener does not use a 'learn' button to program the remotes as most openers do as of May of 2011. The Allister uses a group of dip switches.

I know this type of information can be very helpful for you to have. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I did some research on the garage door. I was unable to locate information that would be helpful with regards to your question at this time.
Your expert will answer within 24-48 hours with detailed information. I I would suggest that you provide a little more information such as the complete model number of your garage door opener so your expert will be able to provide you the best possible answer. Thank you for using Manage My Life. Thanks, Wade: I went to the Linear Corp website and found a tech support email address and told them the problem. They said it was due to a slipping belt or a capacitor. Given that the motor wasn't even running, that ruled out the belt explanation. I took the capacitor out of another opener (I have a two-car garage) and sure enough, when I installed it into the bad opener, it worked.
Then I found a capacitor at an old electrical supply shop for $15, versus the $41 the door opener store wanted. Thanks again.your lead gave me the info to solve this.
