Cabs Software
After 26 years of serving the AEC industry in the UK, I am writing to inform you that Computer Aided Business Systems Limited (CABS) has been acquired by Autodesk Platinum Partner, Excitech Limited. CABS was founded with the goal of becoming a leading provider of Autodesk products and related services, with a passion for personal and friendly service, and I believe we reached and delivered our objective. However, in recent years, CAD software has become increasingly complex, and as the advent of BIM demanded access to more advanced technologies, we began to feel that our customers needed access to a broader portfolio of technologies and skillsets than we could offer. As a result, we began discussions with Excitech about a possible purchase. Excitech was our preferred home as we felt we shared the same values.

Those of providing dependable, knowledgeable advice and going the extra distance for our customers. This, combined with a breadth of expertise and knowledge unmatched in the industry, made them the obvious choice for our business. Founded in 1985, Excitech employs over 130 people, generating revenues in excess of £31m. Based in Enfield (North London), with additional training facilities in Bishopsgate, London, they were one of the first partners of Autodesk in the UK.
Excitech have extensive knowledge and expertise around the Autodesk portfolio, in addition to a comprehensive range of training and support solutions. They currently support over 2,800 customers across the UK, ranging from small independent businesses to large corporates. Their team of experienced project consultants work with customers to develop and implement the underlying processes, collaboration standards and workflows necessary to realise the benefits of BIM adoption.
Excitech have also developed specialist expertise in providing support, advice and solutions in the areas of IT and Document Management to deliver a complete service for an effective and productive CAD and modelling environment. Excitech will be running a series of webinars over the coming weeks for you to learn more about how they can support you. Details on how to register for these can be found by visiting. Here you will also find answers to some frequently asked questions about the acquisition. I will be joining Excitech, along with many of the CABS team, so you can rest assured the service we deliver will not be impacted in any way. Over the coming months, we will be transitioning to the Excitech systems, so there may be a period where you will receive communications with both the CABS and Excitech logos on.
However, we do intend within a short period of time to be fully integrated into the Excitech business and operate under their brand name. I do hope you feel as positive as I do about this change of ownership. I firmly believe that with Excitech’s reputation in the market, and the breadth of knowledge and experience they bring, we can together provide even greater support to you.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Yours sincerely Mike Hall 38 .
